Sony Pictures has acquired the rights to Nicole Larson’s memorably-titled debut feature film screenplay, “Love in the Time Of Dick Pics.” Deadline writes that the plot is being described as “a timely romantic comedy about the illusion of choice — and just how hard it is to find the right person in a sea of options that range from polite, to lewd, to nude.” Sadly, as most people realize, unsolicited photographs of a particular appendage are an unfortunate reality of dating in 2016. (Of course, if the pic is being delivered as per a request, power to you!)
The film seems as though it will explore the comedic side of looking for love in the age of swiping, photo-swapping, and Netflix-and-chilling. “Love In The Time Of Dick Picks” will also likely touch on the downsides of dating in our technology-saturated world, including the awkward transition from online interaction to meeting in person, and ghosting.
Elizabeth Cantillon (“The Trap”) will serve as producer. Ange Giannetti and Maia Eyre are overseeing the project for Sony, and Laura Quicksilver for The Cantillon Company. No word on who will direct.
Larson’s writing credits include Freeform’s “Melissa & Joey” and “The Blakery,” a short. She directed and starred in the latter. Larson “most recently worked on NBC’s breakout rookie ‘This Is Us’ under co-executive producer KJ Steinberg,” Deadline writes.
