Trailer Watch: Get Nasty with “The Good Fight”

CBS All

CBS All Access is about to launch two highly anticipated female-centric shows. One is the Sonequa Martin-Green-led “Star Trek: Discovery,” which will premiere in May, 2017 on the streaming site. The other is “The Good Wife” spinoff “The Good Fight,” for which the first teaser has just been released.

The series stars Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo, Rose Leslie, Delroy Lindo, Sarah Steele, Paul Guilfoyle, Bernadette Peters, and Erica Tazel.

As we previously reported, the drama will focus on the characters of Diane Lockhart (Baranski) and Lucca Quinn (Jumbo) and “pick up exactly a year after the events in ‘The Good Wife’ finale, which left us with Alicia severing her friendship with Diane — seemingly for good — in a bid to save Peter from jail time. In the finale, Alicia revealed an affair between Diane’s husband and another woman and later in the episode Diane shockingly slapped her.”

The new teaser doesn’t reveal much about the upcoming plot, which is said to revolve around, “an enormous financial scam [that] has destroyed the reputation of a young lawyer, Maia, while simultaneously wiping out her mentor Diane Lockhart’s savings. Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, they join Lucca Quinn at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.”

Instead, this brief glimpse includes a lot of shots of Rose Leslie looking despondent, Christine Baranski being a powerhouse, and general salaciousness all around.

Michelle and Robert King, creators and executive producers of “The Good Wife,” return as showrunners and exec producers of the new series, which will premiere on February 19, 2017.
