Trailer Watch: Katherine Heigl and Rosario Dawson Face Off in “Unforgettable”

“Unforgettable”

Veteran producer Denise Di Novi (“Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Crazy, Stupid, Love,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Edward Scissorhands,” “Heathers”) is making her directorial debut with the thriller “Unforgettable,” and the trailer for the salacious-looking film has just been released.

The thriller originally had “Belle” filmmaker Amma Asante attached to direct and Kerry Washington and Kate Hudson to star. The script, by Christina Hodson and David Leslie Johnson, centers on a woman being tormented by her husband’s ex-wife. Washington dropped out of the project to play Anita Hill in the HBO movie “Confirmation” and Asante soon after. Di Novi had already boarded the project as a producer alongside Alison Greenspan.

Katherine Heigl plays Tessa, a divorcee with a daughter whose ex-husband (Geoff Stults) has moved on to new girlfriend Julia (Rosario Dawson). Tessa’s jealousy turns pathological and she begins to methodically torture Julia in order to ruin her life.

“There was a time when I thought we were on the road to getting back together,” Tessa says over drinks with Julia. “Then…he met you.”

Heigl and Di Novi last worked together on 2010’s “Life As We Know It.” Di Novi has already lined up her second directing gig. She will follow up “Unforgettable” with Dreamworks’ “Highway One,” a female-led action thriller.

“Unforgettable” hits theaters on April 21, 2017.
