A new trailer for Jennifer Lawrence’s latest offering dropped during the Super Bowl. “Red Sparrow” sees the Oscar winner playing Dominika, a ballerina-turned-spy. She agrees to join the Sparrow School — where she’ll be trained to seduce and manipulate — after her life is threatened. The new footage offers insight into why Dominika excels in her new field.
“You have a gift,” she’s told. “You see through people.” Her trusty bullshit detector doesn’t appear to be set off by an American CIA agent (Joel Edgerton) who encourages her to “take her life back” from the Sparrows. “I’ll find a way,” she vows. We’re also told Dominika is “always one step ahead,” so it’s anyone’s guess what her endgame is.
“Red Sparrow” hits theaters March 2. The thriller re-teams Lawrence with “Hunger Games” director Francis Lawrence.
