Trailer Watch: “Nashville” Season 5 Hints at Disaster, Heartbreak, and New Love

“Nashville”

“Nashville” is back and as action-packed as ever. CMT has released the first full trailer for the series’ upcoming fifth season, and the footage leaves no doubt that the new episodes will deliver all of the juicy drama we’ve come to expect from the Critics Choice winner.

The clip kicks off with a refresher of last season’s events before offering a peek at what to look forward to in Season 5.

It looks as though Rayna (Connie Britton) and Deacon (Charles Esten) will collaborate on an album. “I want us to write our story,” Rayna says. But it’s not all smooth sailing. Deacon reveals this past year has been “one of the worst damn years of [his] life.”

Speaking of rocky terrain, Scarlett (Clare Bowen) and Gunnar’s (Sam Palladio) relationship seems like it’s still precarious. “Singing that song makes me want to slap the living hell out of you,” Scarlett tells Gunnar. And most exciting — and nerve-wracking — of all, we get to see footage of Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) sitting in a crashing plane, and the spot gives no indication of how — or if — she’ll survive.

Check out the trailer below to see Rayna give career advice to Scarlett, Maddie (Lennon Stella) meet a new love interest, and more. You can catch “Nashville’s” two-hour premiere January 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CMT.
