Mark your calendars: HBOAccess will be accepting submissions for its 2018 Directing Fellowship beginning January 31, a press release has announced. HBO’s emerging talent pipeline partners up with the DGA for the program, which was designed to foster diverse directing talent. Three directors will be invited to participate in a series of master classes from June 4–8, and the goal is for the helmers to shoot a pilot this July.

“The material selected for production will be chosen from the scripts developed in the HBOAccess 2017 Writing Fellowship, which concludes this spring,” the release notes.

Fellows will dig into various components of the production process, including taking part in casting and collaborating with a cinematographer.

Program alumni have gone on to direct episodes of television on networks including HBO, and pilots produced through the program have screened at fests across the country.

Sundance Film Festival just hosted the world premiere of former Fellow Christina Choe’s feature directorial debut, “Nancy.” The psychodrama centers on a woman who’s convinced that she may be the long lost daughter of a couple whose child went missing 30 years ago.

The deadline to apply for the Directing Fellowship is February 7. Find more information on HBOAccess’ site.
