“Bridget Jones’s Baby” Tops Foreign Box Office For Second Week in a Row

“Bridget Jones’s Baby”: Universal

“Bridget Jones’s Baby” is still going strong in international market, despite a poor performance in the U.S.

As Variety reports, the movie topped the foreign box office once again, earning another $21.9 million over the course of its second weekend, bringing its total global gross to $83.6 million. It beat out the dude-heavy “The Magnificent Seven,” which came in second place globally.

“Bridget Jones’s Baby” opened in eight new territories this weekend, including New Zealand, India, Egypt, Italy, and Thailand.

Bridget also, unsurprisingly, maintained her number one spot in the UK, where its brought in about $30 million of that gross. The U.S. haul has been disappointing, but with about $16 million domestic so far, the movie did double its U.S. take over its second weekend. Naturally, as a British story and property, anything “Bridget Jones” will do better over in the UK. We’re bummed that U.S. audiences haven't taken to it as well, but we’re glad Sharon Maguire’s Renee Zellweger-starring comedy is doing so well abroad.
