“Jane the Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez is producing and hosting a ceremony to honor young women making a difference in the world, the AP reports.

Called the Marie Claire Young Women’s Honors, the event was created to “foster the unlimited potential in every woman.”

“As a young Latina, I had to break down barriers and overcome naysayers. When you see someone following their dreams, it gives you allowance to follow your own,” said Rodriguez.

The ceremony will include “stories of inspiration from empowered females worldwide who are breaking down barriers and debunking stereotypes.” Women in the fields of technology, science, and education will be selected by a panel that includes Rodriguez, Anne Fulenwider, Marie Claire magazine’s editor-in-chief, and Dr. Julie Vose, past president of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Honorees will be revealed at a later date, and the ceremony will air on December 19 on The CW, home of “Jane the Virgin.”
