Margaret Atwood Releases Graphic Novel

“Angel Catbird”: Dark horse Comics

Literary icon Margaret Atwood has released her first graphic novel, Dark Horse Comics’ “Angel Catbird.”

The story, The A.V. Club reports, follows, “the tale of Strig Feleedus, a genetic engineer who transforms into a bird/owl/human hybrid after an accident and finds himself thrown in the middle of a pulpy superhero conflict.”

As The A.V. Club details, “one of Atwood’s primary goals with this title is educating readers about the current perils faced by cats and birds, which she accomplishes by including factoids along the bottom of select pages.”

Atwood has been having a great 2016. Earlier this year, she was named this year’s recipient of the PEN Pinter Prize, an honor celebrating champions of free speech.

Two television projects are also in the works based on her novels. The first is an adaptation of “The Handmaid’s Tale” for Hulu starring Elisabeth Moss. The other is Netflix miniseries based on “Alias Grace,” with Sarah Polley writing and producing, Mary Harron directing, and Anna Paquin and Sarah Gadon starring.

“Angel Catbird” hits shelves tomorrow.
