You’re Invited! An Evening with Melissa Silverstein in Australia: Why Gender Equality is Vital for Hollywood
Dear Australian Women and Hollywood readers! You’re invited to a special event in Melbourne called “An Evening with Melissa Silverstein: Why Gender Equality is Vital for Hollywood.”
The event will be held at Cinema 1, ACMI, Federation Square on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 6:00 PM.
Women and Hollywood Founder Melissa Silverstein will make a 45-minute visual presentation, “Why Gender Equality is Vital for Hollywood,” a comprehensive overview of the Hollywood ecosystem. This will include updated statistics, decision makers in Hollywood, the numbers of women behind the scenes and on the screen, the narrative that fuels Hollywood, box office data on successful female films, the growing difference between TV and film regarding women, and ways we can all be a part of making change.
Her presentation will be used as a starting point for serious discussion about strategies for change that could be applied in the Australian screen industry as well as in the U.S., moderated by award-winning screen producer and Natalie Miller Fellowship President, Sue Maslin.
The Natalie Miller Fellowship is about recognizing and nurturing the next generation of female leaders in the Australian screen community, and inspiring them to reach the very top of their fields. By urging more women to take on positions of leadership — roles that allow them to make a real difference — we not only address the gender imbalance that’s still evident at the top, we drive better company performances and greater innovation. And that means a more dynamic, diverse and robust screen industry for everyone.
The presentation and discussion will be followed by complimentary networking drinks. You can find out more about the event and RSVP here.
