In a new short film by Tatia Pllieva called “Speech,” five actresses deliver selected portions of some of the most famous presidential speeches in history.
Becki Newton (“Ugly Betty”) takes the microphone as John F. Kennedy, Deborah Ann Woll (“Daredevil”) plays Lyndon Johnson, Gillian Zinser (“90210”) is Jimmy Carter, and Robinne Lee (“Hitch”) is Barack Obama. Probably the most recognizable words come from Bryce Dallas Howard, who recites some of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
It’s a moving piece in light of the fact that the U.S. may soon have its first female president in Hillary Clinton. Who knows how the country, or even the world, would have shaped itself had women been elected American presidents long ago.
