Correcting the Record on Wonder Woman Comment

Last week at the Cannes Film Festival on a Women in Motion panel, I said that Patty Jenkins, the director of the upcoming “Wonder Woman” film, is the first female director to have a $100 million budget for a live action film.

That was incorrect. The first woman to have a $100 million budget for a live action film was Kathryn Bigelow in 2002 for “K-19: The Widowmaker.”

Patty Jenkins is the first woman to direct a summer tent pole superhero movie. She is also the first woman to direct a superhero movie with a female protagonist.

I apologize for my error. My only excuse is that it was day eight in Cannes and my brain was not working properly.
