Anderson. Gillian Anderson. That’s who Twitter wants to be the next James Bond.
In light of the news that Daniel Craig, who’s starred in the last three Bond films, is done with the franchise, and with no set actor next in line to take on the role, fans are taking to the social media platform to make their own suggestions.
According to The Daily Dot, despite names like Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston floating around, folks on Twitter are using the #NextBond hashtag to recommend that the next Bond be neither of them. As it turns out, Anderson, star of “The X-Files,” “The Fall,” and “Hannibal,” has earned the most mentions, with 14,000.
Thrillingly, Anderson seems on board to take the role — judging from her tweet below, anyway:
It's Bond. Jane Bond. Thanks for all the votes! (And sorry, don't know who made poster but I love it!) #NextBondpic.twitter.com/f8GC4ZuFgL
And Anderson isn’t the only woman interested in the part. In a recent interview with Complex, “Quantico” star Priyanka Chopra was asked if she’d be interested in playing a Bond girl. “‘I get that all the time,’ she says with faux exasperation. ‘But fuck that — I wanna be Bond.’”
Bond. Jane Bond. Has a nice ring to it.
