“Princess Shaw”: SXSW

Get ready to fall in love with incomparable Princess Shaw. A trailer has arrived for “Presenting Princess Shaw,” a doc centered on a talented and charming songstress who followed her dreams — and recorded the emotional creative journey via her YouTube channel. New Orleans-based Samantha Montgomery’s job is to help care for the elderly, but being Princess Shaw is her calling.

“I just want to be successful, man,” says Princess Shaw. But it’s a long way to the top — a point made painfully clear in the footage of one of her a sparsely attended gigs. Still, Princess Shaw is committed to saying “what’s real” and finding an audience for her art.

Kutiman, a revered composer from across the globe, stumbles upon Princess Shaw’s YouTube channel and the duo decide to collaborate even though they live nearly 7,000 miles apart. Watch the pair make magic in the trailer below.

“Presenting Princess Shaw” opens in theaters and OnDemand May 27.
