Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff are making major history at PBS. The pair will be co-anchoring PBS Newshour.

The pair will both serve as anchors and managing editors of the newscast which will run Monday through Thursday. Woodruff will anchor on her own on Fridays while Ifill continues her work on her other PBS show, Washington Week.

Woodruff had been the show’s chief correspondent from 1983-1993 and returned in 2007 after working at CNN. Ifill has been a correspondent since 2007.

This is the first time in history that a major network news program has had two women anchoring. Woodruff and Ifill will be at the helm starting in September.
