The Provincetown International Film Festival, which runs from June 15–19 this year, has announced today that Cynthia Nixon will be honored with the 2016 Excellence in Acting Award at this year’s fest.
Nixon, who is an Emmy, Tony, and Grammy Award winner, will be present to accept the award at a ceremony on June 18.
“We are thrilled to honor Cynthia Nixon’s remarkable versatility and talent as evidenced by the sheer depth and volume of her film, TV, and stage performances, her work with the top directors in the world, and her ability to successfully engage the worlds of super stardom and the art house elite,” said Christine Walker, Executive Director of PIFF and CEO of the Provincetown Film Society.
Nixon’s most well-known television work is no doubt HBO’s “Sex and the City” She has acted in over 40 plays and in 2014 made her directorial debut at The New Group with “Rasheeda Speaking.” She can currently be seen in Pamela Romanowsky’s “The Adderall Diaries.”
Previous female recipients of the Excellence in Acting Award include Patricia Clarkson, Parker Posey, Vera Farmiga, and Tilda Swinton.
