Catherine Keener’s “Little Pink House” Acquired by Film Mode

Catherine Keener in “Hamlet 2”: Tribeca Film

Film Mode Entertainment has acquired writer-director Courtney Moorehead Balaker’s “Little Pink House.”

The David and Goliath drama stars two-time Oscar-nominee Catherine Keener (“Show Me A Hero,” “Capote”) as Susette, a nurse who stands up to a powerful corporation intent on building a corporate facility in her working-class Connecticut neighborhood. To make space for the project, the corporation’s legal team is trying to seize and demolish houses. Susette rallies her neighbors to take on the behemoth and wages war all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. The film is based on a true story and co-stars Jeanne Tripplehorn (“Criminal Minds,” “Big Love”).

Moorehead Balaker’s previous credits include “The Collector” and “Cute Couple.” She’s one of the producers on “Little Pink House.”

According to a press release, the film, currently in post-production, “is on a short-list to play in theaters later this year.”

“This very moving, inspirational film is a tribute to the human spirit, and shows how the determination of a single individual can change the course of events for the better,” said Clay Epstein, President of Film Mode Entertainment. “Little Pink House” is a commercially viable film with a vital and timely message that will tug at the heartstrings of distributors and moviegoers across the globe.”

Film Mode is repping the international rights to the project and unveiling footage to distributors in Cannes.
