Women and Hollywood spoke with the star, co-writer and producer of “Consumed,” Zoe Lister-Jones. The film addresses a hot topic — Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). Typically we see this subject matter tackled in docs, whereas “Consumed” is a narrative thriller. Lister-Jones plays a working-class single mom who resolves to get to the bottom of her son’s mysterious illness.
Lister-Jones shared what it was like to work with her partner in life and in work, director Daryl Wein. She explained why the duo departed from romantic comedies (much to the chagrin of the representatives) towards making this film. The couple became obsessed with GMOs and how they exist in much of our food. The multi-talented Lister-Jones, who stars in CBS’s sitcom “Life in Pieces”, also spoke about the difficulties and rewards of being an indie filmmaker.
