Naomi Watts is in negotiations to star in “The Glass Castle” alongside Oscar-winner Brie Larson. Watts would play Larson’s eccentric mother in the much anticipated big-screen adaptation of Jeannette Walls’ 2005 best-selling, award-winning memoir.
In the book, Walls’ mother Rosemary is an artist and teacher. The poverty-stricken family struggles to get by with nonstop hurdles to overcome, including their own dysfunctional relationships with one another.
Jennifer Lawrence was originally slated to portray Jeannette. When she left the project, Larson replaced her. The “Room” star will be reuniting with her “Short Term 12” director Destin Daniel Cretton for “The Glass Castle.” Their previous collaboration earned dazzling reviews for breakout Larson.
Production is expected to begin in June.
It was recently announced that Watts will star in Gia Coppola’s upcoming feature “The Secret Life of the Lonely Doll.”
