The hotly anticipated second season of Starz’s “Outlander” has a premiere date and a trailer.

The time-traveling Claire (Catriona Belle) has quite the burden to bear: she knows too much. Should she treat the future she’s experienced as an inevitability or intervene and change history, risking who-knows-what in the process and endangering an untold number of lives?

The heroine warns that the brewing Highland uprising will lead to a grim outcome for Scotland. The Battle of Culloden must be stopped — but how?

“Promise me that we’ll always find the way back to each other,” begs Jamie (Sam Heughan,) Claire’s husband and the father of her newborn baby.

The bombshell at the end of the trailer may throw a wrench into the steamy lovers’ future.

“Outlander” returns April 9.
