Former “Parks and Recreation” stars Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones have received pilot orders from their old network.
NBC has given the go-ahead on the first episode of an untitled single-cam comedy from Poehler and Charlie Grandy (“The Mindy Project,” “The Office”), about a reformed party animal who decides to return home and compete with his brother to take over the family business: ruling a kingdom. Formerly titled “Dumb Prince,” the series follows Karl, the family black sheep, whose decision to challenge his brother for the throne “throw[s] his highly publicized and dysfunctional family into chaos,” according to Variety. Poehler would EP along with her producing partner Brooke Posch.
Jones is busy with co-penning “Toy Story 4” and starring in “Angie Tribeca,” which was renewed for a second season before its series premiere on January 25. But she is also attached to executive produce “Good Fortune,” which NBC has given a pilot order. A multi-cam series, the comedy will center on “a hyper-structured young woman whose life is upended when she starts taking advice from a mysterious fortune teller,” per a description by Variety.
