Trailer Watch: Ellen Page Travels Around the World in LGBT-Centered Docuseries ‘Gaycation’

Ellen Page’s new docuseries project has been hotly anticipated since a video released online last summer showed the “Freeheld” star confronting Texas senator Ted Cruz about LGBT rights at the Iowa State Fair. Initially, it was unclear if the Oscar-nominated actress, seemingly incognito in a baseball hat and sunglasses, was simply fighting the good fight or if the confrontation was engineered as part of a project, drawing as much attention as possible to Cruz and other politicians’ homophobia. It wasn’t long before word came out that Page was filming a series for Vice.

“I’m on a journey to explore what it means to be lesbian, gay, bi or trans all around the world,” explains Page in the first trailer for “Gaycation,” which will air on Viceland, Vice’s new cable channel.

The docuseries will see Page and Ian Daniel, her best friend, travelling around the globe to meet LGBT people, as well as their detractors and abusers, to experience both “the love and the hate.” “There’s a disorder in you,” one man tells Page, who came out as a gay woman on Valentine’s Day 2014.

You can catch “Gaycation” when it premieres on Viceland on March 2 at 10 pm. ET/PT.
