Trailer Watch: Po Reunites with His Long-Lost Father in Jennifer Yuh’s ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’

The world’s clumsiest kung fu master is back. “Kung Fu Panda 3,” co-directed by Jennifer Yuh, is almost here, and a new trailer has been released in anticipation of the animated flick’s January release.

It’s time for our panda protagonist, Po (Jack Black), to take the next step in his journey — and it’s not going to be an easy one. “If you only do what you can do you, you will never be more than you are now,” advises Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman).

The third installment of the franchise sees Po reuniting with his biological dad (Bryan Cranston). The two travel to the panda sanctuary his father calls home, where Po learns of Kay, a self-described “master of pain” (J.K. Simmons) wreaking havoc across China. Po and his father’s village form an army to take on the supernatural villain.

Angelina Jolie reprises her role as Tigress and Lucy Liu as Viper, while Kate Hudson voices a new love-interest character.

Check out the trailer to see Po’s food-filled game plan, a glimpse of his possible future wife and an interesting alternative to a paternity test.

When “Kung Fu Panda 3” opens January 29, 2016, expect the film to do big numbers at the box office: 2008’s “Kung Fu Panda” earned over $631million worldwide and 2011’s “Kung Fu Panda 2” grossed even more, with over $665 million.
