Emily Ting’s Romance “Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong” to Be Released by Gravitas Ventures

Writer-director Emily Ting’s neon-lit romance between a Chinese-American woman and an American expat in Hong Kong has found a distribution deal.

Gravity Ventures will release “Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong” (previously titled “It’s Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong”), which debuted this year at the Los Angeles Film Festival. (Needless to say, it’s always exciting when a female director of color lands distribution.)

Starring Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg, the film finds its central pair meeting one another in a chance encounter, conversing through the night and eventually deciding how they should proceed with their hours-old relationship.

In an interview with Women and Hollywood, Ting revealed, “The idea [for the script] sat with me for a long time until, one night, I actually met a fellow expat, and we spent a night wandering around the city and talking together. I thought we were building a connection, but then I found out later that he had a girlfriend. I felt like a fool for making this flirtation up in my head. So I went home and wrote the screenplay that eventually became the film.”

“Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong” will be released in theaters and on VOD on February 12, 2016.
