Amazon Renews Jill Soloway’s “Transparent” for a Fifth Season

“Transparent”

Jill Soloway’s award-winning series “Transparent” is, without a doubt, one of Amazon’s most successful properties. With two Golden Globes and eight Emmys to its name, it’s no surprise that Amazon Studios would like to keep “Transparent” around for as long as possible. In fact, per The Hollywood Reporter, it’s on its way to becoming the company’s longest-running series with a newly-announced fifth season.

That’s right — just a month shy of its Season 4 premiere, Amazon has renewed Soloway’s innovative series for another run.

“We are extremely grateful to Amazon Studios for their continued trust and support and to our audience for their warm embrace of the Pfeffermans,” stated Soloway. “We look forward to another season of comedy and drama, love and weirdness, God and sex — in the service of community and in pursuit of peace, joy, freedom, and human rights for all."

“Transparent” follows the Pfefferman family as its patriarch, played by Jeffrey Tambor, comes out as transgender and begins to embrace life as Maura. This ensemble cast also features Judith Light (“Ugly Betty”), Gaby Hoffman (“Girls”), Jay Duplass (“Landline”), and Amy Landecker (“Doctor Strange”). All are expected to return for the newest season.

Soloway and Andrea Sperling will continue to executive produce.

Soloway’s newest series, “I Love Dick,” is also an Amazon property. Co-created by Sarah Gubbins and based on Chris Kraus’ feminist novel of the same name, “I Love Dick” follows a married couple (Griffin Dunne and Kathryn Hahn) who engage in a complicated love triangle with a fascinating professor named Dick (Kevin Bacon).

“Transparent’s” fifth season is expected to begin production next year and will premiere towards the end of 2018.

Season 4, which Soloway promises will “cross borders and boundaries,” will be released on Amazon September 22.
