ABC Gives Liz Friedman and Liz Friedlander’s Legal Drama ‘Conviction’ Put Pilot Commitment

Following the successful launch of “Quantico,” ABC is giving its production company, the Mark Gordon Co., a second deal.

Liz Friedman and Liz Friedlander’s “Conviction” has received a put pilot commitment from the alphabet network. The legal procedural centers on a team of lawyers, investigators and forensic experts who have two weeks to see if the wrong person was convicted of the crime of the week. The team’s newest member wis Carter Morrison, the brilliant but rebellious scion of a Clinton-esque political family.

The Emmy-nominated Friedman has penned episodes of “Elementary” and will be the #2 to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg on “Marvel’s Jessica Jones.” She will pen the pilot. Friedlander, a veteran TV director, will helm the pilot.
