Tickets are now available for “On Your Feet!,” Gloria Estefan’s Broadway musical about her rise to stardom.
Starring Ana Villafañe, the production traces Gloria and her husband Emilio’s musical launch in Miami and the seven-time Grammy winner’s meteoric ascent as one of the most popular Latin crossover acts ever. “On Your Feet!” includes several of Estefan’s hits, including “Conga,” “1–2–3,” “Music of My Heart” and “Rhythm is Gonna Get You,” as well as several new songs written by the couple.
After a month-long tryout engagement in Chicago, previews will begin on October 5 at NYC’s Marquis Theatre. The show will officially open on November 5.
In a pre-Broadway review, Variety praised the musical for its “fluid, structurally sound story that strings together the Estefans’ pop ballads with a ready dose of the buoyant Cuban-fusion dance numbers that sold kajillions of albums worldwide.”
“It’s a show sure to please the built-in audience that will find absolutely exactly the entertainment they expect,” critic Steven Oxman noted, “and even the less fully acquainted will find that the rhythm really is going to get you.”
