Trailer Watch: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Throw the Party of a Lifetime in ‘Sisters’

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have called a wrap on their Golden Globe hosting duties, but mercifully it won’t be long until we see them partner up on another grand stage — the big screen. A trailer has been released for their much-talked-about reunion in “Sisters,” which sees Poehler playing The Perfect Sister (Maura) and Fey taking on the role of The Other Sister (Jane). This preview shows that, really, both sisters are spectacular(ly funny) messes.

Maura and Jane’s parents have the gumption to sell their family home without passing it on to their children. Cue a tantrum from Jane, who kicks the “sold” sign over and proceeds to lie on the yard flailing and screaming. (Millennials aren’t the only ones stricken with the entitlement bug.) Their parents have one (very reasonable) request before the move: that their daughters clean their room. Rather than doing what they are asked, the disastrous duo resolve to make their last night in the house count by going out with a bang and hosting an epic house party.

We see the “SNL” alums trying on suitably hot outfits, with Jane appraising a potential dress by saying, “It’s a lot of under-teat, but I think I’m getting away with it.” She is so not getting away with it — and also, the dress is on backwards. If their style is questionable, their flirting tactics are even more ridiculous. “I bet working on other people’s bushes really makes you wanna wack your weeds,” Maura tells a cute neighbor. When your sexual-innuendo game is this strong, who needs under-teat?

The house party footage includes holes being punched in the wall, crowd surfing, a disastrous rendezvous in the quasi-privacy of a bedroom and the sisters performing a choreographed dance sequence. It’s a standard high-school rager — but this time around, the partygoers have retirement savings.

“Sisters” co-stars Maya Rudolph and was written by Paula Pell. The comedy opens December 25, so you can celebrate the holiday — whether it’s Christmas or a day off work — by worshipping the comedic dream team of Fey and Poehler.
