Melissa Rosenberg and Liz Friedman Board Patricia Cornwell Movie Adaptation

Author Patricia Cornwell’s Dr. Kay Scarpetta has had a difficult time making the transition from page to screen. But two recently hired writers may speed up the forensic pathologist’s leap to the multiplex.

Emmy-winning TV writer Liz Friedman (“Orange is the New Black”) has boarded the adaptation project, with superstar screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg (“Twilight”) to produce. Rosenberg is the showrunner of Netflix’s upcoming superheroine series “Jessica Jones,” and Friedman serves as an EP on that drama.

Kay Scarpetta is the focus of 14 mystery novels and counting. She first appeared in 1990’s “Postmortem.”
