Volleyball Olympics Medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings to Get Doc Treatment

Beach volleyball star Kerri Walsh Jennings, who won the gold medal at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics with partner Misty May-Treanor, will be the subject of a new documentary.

Walsh Jennings and May-Treanor have been called “the greatest beach volleyball team of all time,” but the latter retired from competition after the duo’s third gold-medal win. The new film about Walsh Jennings will focus on the athlete’s training to dominate her sport for a fourth time at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, in particular on her training with April Ross, her new partner and former rival. The film will also show how Walsh Jennings balances her glitzy, hyper-intense work with being a mother of three.

“Representing my country as an Olympic athlete is an honor I take seriously, but I am the most proud of being a mother, wife and role model to young athletes,” Walsh Jennings said. “I hope my story inspires viewers and provides them a glimpse of how sports have shaped my life.”

The documentary will be produced by Tribeca Digital Studios and Dick’s Sporting Goods Films.
