The 2017 Women in Film & TV UK Award Nominations Are Open

A winner at last year’s WIFT Awards, “Chewing Gum” creator, writer, and star Michaela Coel

Here’s your chance to give a talented woman in the entertainment industry some well-deserved recognition: Nominations for the 2017 Women in Film & TV UK Awards are now open. Anyone and everyone is welcome to make a nomination — including men — and not just WFTV members. If you’ve worked with a fantastic editor, director, or cinematographer who deserves props, now is your chance to help ensure she gets them. And if you think you’ve had an especially great couple of years in the biz, you can even nominate yourself.

There are 13 categories, including but not limited to the The Fremantle Media UK New Talent Award, which “recognizes a woman who can be seen as a significant emerging talent in film, TV, or digital media, within the last two years,” and The BBC News and Factual Award, which honors “outstanding achievement in news, factual programming, current affairs, or documentary work in film, TV, or digital media in the last two years.”

You can nominate someone through a simple process on WFTV’s website until midnight on Saturday, September 16. Winners will be recognized onstage at the 2017 WFTV Awards, set to be held December 1 in London.
