“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” isn’t going anywhere. The beloved late-night show has been renewed for two more seasons at TBS, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. That means Bee will be sticking around until at least 2020 — so we won’t miss any of her hilarious jokes and insightful commentary about Donald Trump’s presidency.
“The pickup comes as Bee remains one of two female late-night TV hosts (joining BET’s Robin Thede) and after she took home an Emmy for outstanding writing for ‘Full Frontal’s’ “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner” special, a TCA Award, a WGA nomination, two PGA noms, and four DGA noms,” THR writes.
“We were fortunate to start our show in an election year, and I’m so grateful TBS has picked us up for two more seasons, which will see us through the 2018 midterms and bring us into the 2020 election season,” said Bee. “It’s promising to be a real shitshow, and I am counting on our viewers to coax me out of my panic bunker and get us through it.”
“No one does political comedy like ‘Full Frontal’; a two-season pickup is an obvious decision,” added Thom Hinkle, executive vp original programming. “Sam and her team have been relentlessly incisive in their satire, and the awards recognition and their growing viewership reflect that. Along with new episodes, expect more specials and a lot more blazers.”
“There are plenty of people who won’t tune in [to ‘Full Frontal’] because a woman’s voice bothers their eardrums. Their ear canals can’t handle the sound of my shrill voice talking at them about a subject,” Bee has said. “I guess I just don’t really care about those people.” Here’s hoping she speaks even louder in the coming years.
