Ronit Elkabetz to Serve as President of Cannes’ Critics’ Week

Ronit Elkabetz, the star and co-director of “Gett, The Trial of Viviane Amsalem,” will preside over Cannes’ Critics’ Week jury. She follows British filmmaker Andrea Arnold in the position.

“Gett” was Israel’s submission for the Best Foreign Language Film category at this year’s Oscars, though it did not make the shortlist. The divorce drama was, however, nominated for a Golden Globe in the same category.

Co-directed by Ronit’s brother Shlomi Elkabetz, “Gett” is the siblings’ third film together. They previously directed “7 Days” and “To Take a Wife,” together, with the actress-turned-helmer starring in both films.

Critics’ Week is a showcase for first and second features.
