Gail Berman and Lucy Fisher Elected PGA Presidents, Make History

Berman: The Jackal Group

Gail Berman and Lucy Fisher are the new presidents of the Producers Guild of America. According to Deadline, this is the first time two women have held the co-equal positions. The duo ran unopposed to succeed Lori McCreary and Gary Lucchesi, who have served since 2014.

“Gail and Lucy have long since established themselves as leaders in our industry, steering their respective networks, studios, and companies to great success in an era of unprecedented change,” stated McCreary and Lucchesi. “They are a pair of brilliant and fearless producers who are devoted to the ideals of the PGA and the professional welfare of its members. We can’t wait to watch the guild thrive under their stewardship.”

Berman has exec produced TV movie “The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again” and series such as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Deception.” Her upcoming projects include the Anne Hathaway motherhood pic “Live Fast Die Hot” and an animated remake of “The Addams Family.”

Berman is also the chairman and CEO of The Jackal Group, a production company formed in partnership with Fox Networks Group. Since 2016 she has serve on the PGA’s National Board of Directors and its Producers Council Board of Delegates. Berman is “one of the few media executives to hold the top posts at both a major film studio [President, Paramount Pictures] and a broadcast television network [President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company],” the source notes.

“The Great Gatsby” and the “Divergent” franchise are among Fisher’s producing credits. The David O. Selznick Achievement Award winner has been on the Producers Council Board of Delegates since 2015. She currently co-heads Red Wagon Entertainment with her partner and husband, Douglas Wick. Her previous roles include vice chairman of Sony’s Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group, EVP of Worldwide Production at Warner Bros., and head of production at Zoetrope Studios.

Fisher received a BAFTA nomination in 2002 for producing “Stuart Little 2.” She also took home a Crystal at the 1998 Women in Film Crystal Awards (now known as the Crystal + Lucy Awards).
