Trailer Watch: Tiffany Haddish Vows to Catch a Catfisher in “Nobody’s Fool”

"Nobody's Fool"

Tiffany Haddish made history last night as the first black woman to host the MTV Movie Awards. She also took home the trophy for Best Comedic Performance at the event. Now the “Girls Trip” star is showing off those comedic chops in a new trailer for “Nobody’s Fool,” a pic that sees her playing a recently released convict who’s reunited with her by-the-book, super successful sister.

Danica’s (Tika Sumpter, “Ride Along” franchise) life seems picture-perfect. She’s killing it at her job, where she’s likely to become the first black woman to be a VP in the company, and her fancy apartment leaves Tanya (Haddish) reeling. But there’s more to the story. Danica is head over heels for an “amazing guy” she met online a year ago — who we’re told she’s “never even seen.” Convinced that the “dude ain’t real,” Tanya tries to prove that Danica is being catfished.

The sisters embark on a mission to get to the truth — a mission that Tanya insists will require a saw and burner phone, among other hilarious items. She also insists that Danica release all of her liquids so she doesn’t pee and leave DNA.

Haddish will reprise her role as Shay in Season 2 of “The Last O.G.” The TBS comedy’s first season concluded earlier this month. Her upcoming big screen gigs include “Night School,” an ensemble comedy that reunites her with “Girls Trip” director Malcolm D. Lee, and Andrea Berloff’s “The Kitchen,” a crime drama that co-stars Melissa McCarthy and Elisabeth Moss. The former hits theaters this September 28 and the latter September 20, 2019.

Written and directed by Tyler Perry, “Nobody’s Fool” opens November 2. Whoopi Goldberg co-stars.
