A week after it won an Oscar for Best Original Song, “Selma” crossed the $50 million mark at the domestic box office. Ava DuVernay’s film currently is the fourth highest-grossing Best Picture nominee after “American Sniper,” “The Imitation Game,” and “The Budapest Hotel.”
Also nominated for four Golden Globe Awards (for Best Drama, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Original Song), the Martin Luther King, Jr. biopic is currently ranked 66th among the top 100 films of 2014. After Angelina Jolie’s “Unbroken,” it was last year’s second most popular woman-directed release.
