Former “SNL” and “Futurama” writer Kristin Gore is on a career upswing.
The daughter of former Vice President Al Gore is currently working on a screenplay for Universal’s adaptation of Jon Ronson’s “The Psychopath Test,” as well as developing a HBO comedy called “Women in Space.”
“The Psychopath Test” is a nonfiction best-seller about Ronson’s search for psychopaths at all levels of society, so it appears that the page-to-screen translation, which will fashion a thriller out of the source material, will be a loose one. Scarlett Johansson is attached to star.
Gore will also collaborate with Jay Roach to create “Women in Space,” which follows a group of female explorers on a mission to colonize another planet.
The veteran screenwriter is also the author of three novels: “Sammy’s Hill,” “Sammy’s House,” and “Sweet Jiminy.” She adapted “Sammy’s Hill,” a health-care satire about a woman who can’t afford to get a nail removed from her head, for the big screen with director David O. Russell, who left the production midway due to funding difficulties. Starring Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal, the film was released as “Accidental Love” on VOD on February 10, 2015.
