Archie Panjabi Legal Drama Lands at NBC

Panjabi in "The Good Wife"

It’s been years since Archie Panjabi left Lockhart/Gardner behind, but she’s returning to the legal biz. The Emmy-winning “Good Wife” alumna will topline “Adversaries,” a legal drama that just landed at NBC with a put pilot commitment. The network nabbed the project in a “competitive situation,” according to Variety.

Described as “humorous [and] aspirational,” “Adversaries” “argues the path to healing a polarized nation is through listening and empathy.” Pajabi plays a successful LA attorney who returns to her home state of Wisconsin, where she’s “forced to confront preconceived stereotypes and realize there’s more that unites us than divides us.”

The project hails from Warner Bros. TV and Gero Quinn’s House. Panjabi is a producer on “Adversaries,” and had the idea for her character.

Panjabi won an Emmy for her role of Kalinda on “The Good Wife” in 2010. She received noms the following two years as well. A fan favorite, Kalinda worked as an in-house investigator for the law firm at the center of the Julianna Margulies-starrer.

“A U.S. talent agent once told me an Indian woman could never have a career in Hollywood,” Panjabi has revealed. “It was heartbreaking, but she was merely highlighting the harsh reality at the time.”

Besides “The Good Wife,” her credits include “Blindspot,” “The Fall,” and “San Andreas.” She’s been acting on-screen for over 20 years.
