Greta Gerwig’s ‘Mistress America’ Sold at Sundance

Ten days before the launch of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, Park City’s first major deal has been struck.

Fox Searchlight has bought Mistress America, Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach’s follow-up to the effervescent Frances Ha. Their new comedy will debut at Sundance before being released later this year.

Written by Gerwig and Baumbach, Mistress America stars Lola Kirke (Mozart in the Jungle) as a lonesome college student in NYC who finds a much-needed friend in her soon-to-be stepsister (Gerwig), an intrepid native of the city.
