Amy Adams to Play Janis Joplin in ‘Get It While You Can’ Biopic

After scamming her way through the 1970s in last year’s American Hustle and painting through the 1950s in the upcoming Big Eyes, Amy Adams will visit the decade between as Janis Joplin in a biopic tentatively titled Get It While You Can.

Adams has been attached to play Joplin since 2010, but it’s only now that a shooting schedule in late 2015 has finally been set. The creative team behind Dallas Buyers Club — director Jean-Marc Vallee and screenwriters Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack — are in talks to sign on to the project as well.

Vallee’s next film, the adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s memoir Wild starring Reese Witherspoon, opens December 5.
