They like her. They really like her. Grand Central Publishing (GCP) has snagged the North American rights to Sally Field’s upcoming memoir, Deadline reports. Described as the two-time Oscar winner’s “first extensive discussion of her private life and childhood,” “In Pieces” is scheduled for publication in fall of 2018.

The book is “about the little girl that I was, about the teenager who backed into becoming a celebrity, and about the craft that taught me to stand on my feet, a craft that helped me find my way out of a complicated childhood,” Field said. The “Amazing Spider-Man 2” actress has spent five years writing the memoir.

“I have been a lifelong fan of Sally Field’s work on the stage and screen, and it was a thrill to discover that her talents extend deep into the craft of writing, as well,” commented Millicent Bennett, GCP’s Executive Editor. “Told in her own appealing, unforgettable voice, this is a raw, gorgeous, and moving account of life as a woman in the second half of the twentieth century.”

Field’s career spans over 50 years and includes two Oscars. She won for her roles in “Places in the Heart” and “Norma Rae,” and scored a nod for “Lincoln.” In 2015 she starred in “Hello, My Name Is Doris,” which marked her first leading role in almost 20 years. “I just don’t want to do what I don’t want to do anymore, and I don’t need to, so I won’t,” Field has said. “Roles like Doris, it’s not that they don’t come around very often, they don’t come around ever. What is frustrating is that the roles I read [are] cartoonish,” she explained. “They’re not three-dimensional characters. They’re not really what it’s like to be a woman in their 60s and 70s, what they’re facing, whether it is with their grown children or their grandchildren or their lives or their husbands.”

Up next for Field is “Maniac,” a buzzy Netflix series that’s currently filming. Emma Stone and Jonah Hill topline the dark comedy. Field won an Emmy for her role in ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters,” which ran from 2006 to 2011.
