Nicole Kidman to Receive Career Achievement Award at Hollywood Film Awards

Kidman in "Boy Erased"

Nicole Kidman is set to receive the Hollywood Career Achievement Award at the 2018 Hollywood Film Awards, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. The event will take place November 4 in Los Angeles.

HFO reportedly selected Kidman for her “diverse resume of acting roles” — including an on-air personality in “To Die For,” a terminally ill courtesan in “Moulin Rouge!”, and “To the Lighthouse” author Virginia Woolf. The Oscar winner is also being recognized for her “work spotlighting independent, female filmmakers through her production company Blossom Films,” the source reports.

Kidman has gone public with her commitment to working with more women directors. “I need to be part of the movement that will, hopefully, change the statistics in my field,” she said. The actress and producer  emphasized that talking about the issue isn’t enough. “Because, to be an advocate, you have to actually put things into action,” she explained.

The second season of “Big Little Lies” — which Kidman stars in and exec produces — recently finished filming. Andrea Arnold (“American Honey”) directed every episode. Kidman won an Emmy for her portrayal of Celeste, a former lawyer in an abusive relationship, in the murder mystery’s first season.

Kidman won an Oscar for “The Hours” and received nods for “Lion,” “Rabbit Hole,” and “Moulin Rouge!” She can next be seen in gay conversion therapy drama “Boy Erased” and Karyn Kusama crime drama “Destroyer.” The former hits theaters November 2 and the latter December 25. Her other upcoming projects include Rebecca Miller’s “She Came to Me,” a comedic drama set in the world of contemporary art, and “Fair and Balanced,” a pic inspired by the women who took on Fox News boss Roger Ailes.
