“Judy Craymer is ‘Mamma Mia!'” says Julie Walters in an exclusive clip of bonus footage from “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.” The creator of the “Mamma Mia!” musical, Craymer went on to produce the 2008 film adaptation of the beloved stage production as well as its 2018 sequel, “Here We Go Again.” “None of it would exist without her, nor would I think would the concept of a jukebox musical,” says Ol Parker, director of the latter.
Cast and crew — including Pierce Brosnan — praise Craymer for “carrying the baton” and “keeping this boat afloat.” And don’t get Christine Baranski started on the intensity of her girl crush on Craymer.
The clip also includes an interview with the woman herself. “Somebody said to me, if you want to be a great producer , you’ve got to find a project,” Craymer recalls. She explains what attracted her to ABBA’s music, and the feeling she wanted to capture in the films.
“Mamma Mia!” grossed over $609 million worldwide, and its follow-up took in more than $391 million. The live show has grossed more than $2 billion.
“Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” will be available on digital October 9 and on Blu-ray and DVD on October 23.
