Elisabeth Moss to Star in Broadway Revival of Wendy Wasserstein’s ‘Heidi Chronicles’

It’s hard to think of another actress with a better career than Elisabeth Moss does today. She was utterly fantastic in Jane Campion’s Sundance miniseries Top of the Lake, steals every scene she’s in in Mad Men, and has generally proven to have great taste in projects.

Which is why news that Moss will be heading to Broadway as Men Men wraps up its final season early next year is so welcome. The multiple Emmy nominee will star in a Broadway revival of Wendy Wasserstein’s The Heidi Chronicles, where she’ll play an art historian reminiscing about the regrets and failed romances of her life. Joan Allen originated the role.

As the NY Times notes, “The play won both the Pulitzer Prize for drama and the Tony Award for best play — a relatively rare feat for a playwright, and the first best play Tony for a woman.”

Even more fortuitously, a female director will be overseeing the production. Pam McKinnon won a Tony last year for her direction of a revival of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

The Heidi Chronicles’ opening night will be sometime next March.
