The Renaissance Of Reese Witherspoon

From my latest Forbes post on the imminent “Reese-surgence” via Oscar hopefuls like Gone Girl, The Good Lie, and Wild:

Witherspoon could be looking at multiple Oscar nominations, both as an actor and producer, this awards season. First, she is the producer of the sure-fire hit Gone Girl, which will open the NY Film Festival later this month and open in theatres October 3rd. The film comes from Witherspoon’s production company Pacific Standard, which she started only four years ago with Bruna Papandrea. In a Toronto Film Festival discussion earlier this week, Witherspoon shared her moment of epiphany: “I suddenly started to realize that scripts were not that great, particularly for women.”

Wild is one of the most highly anticipated films at the festival and this awards season — and the second film from [Witherspoon’s production company] Pacific Standard. I don’t think we can rule out the possibility that Reese Witherspoon could receive two Oscar nominations — a lock for a Best Actress nod in Wild and a possible Best Picture nod as a producer.
