Alicia Silverstone will star in and exec produce “The Pleasure of Your Presence,” Deadline confirms. The pic marks Amy Miller Gross’ follow-up to her first feature, “Accommodations,” which screened earlier this year at deadCenter Film Festival.
Hailing from Gross’ production company, Mandorla Productions, the story is set in the Hamptons and centers on a woman (Silverstone) determined to stop her brother (Jake Hoffman, “The Wolf of Wall Street”) from getting married to a young French woman (Mathilde Ollivier, “Overlord”).
“American Woman,” “Book Club,” and “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” are among Silverstone’s recent credits. Paramount is currently working on a remake of her most beloved film, 1995’s “Clueless.”
In addition to her industry background, Gross has worked as a clinical social worker. She “worked at the Jewish Guild of the Blind as a therapist for blind adults, gave clinical therapy to pregnant teens in the anxiety and depression clinic at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, and ghost wrote reports for a top forensic psychiatrist in Manhattan,” her bio at Film Fatales details.
