“Insecure” Actress Amanda Seales Is Making Her HBO Comedy Special Debut Next Year

Seales on "Late Night with Seth Meyers"

One of Issa and Molly’s BFFs on “Insecure” is set to make her comedy special debut on the network behind the Issa Rae-starrer. HBO has announced that Amanda Seales, who plays Tiffany on “Insecure,” has a one-hour special set to be taped this month in New York for the premium cable network. Titled “Amanda Seales: I Be Knowin’,” the special is written by Seales, whose other credits include “Black-ish” and her own web series, “Get Your Life.”

“Being a stand-up comic is an honor I don’t take lightly,” Seales said, “because I consider humor to be a superpower that allows us to bear the weight of issues and concepts that otherwise seem so much bigger than us. “‘I Be Knowin’ is 37 years of finding the funny, culminating in an hour, and my HBO family being the place where I get to share it, makes this, my first special, even that much more special,” she emphasized.

Expected to premiere in early 2019, the special will be taped during Seales’ performance on November 25 at the Edison Ballroom, Deadline confirms.

Seales hosts “Small Doses,” a weekly podcast that addresses topics such as toxic masculinity, ending a friendship, and being broke. She’s currently touring with “Smart Funny & Black,” a live comedic competition show she created. Seales holds a Master’s degree in African American Studies from Columbia University.

“Insecure’s” third season concluded in September. The Emmy-nominated show has been renewed for a fourth season.
