A thirteen-year-old girl becomes the center of world attention when she’s caught on tape able to miracle-heal in novelist Jason Mott’s The Wonder of All Things.
Though the book won’t be availble until September 30, Lionsgate has already optioned it as the studio’s next potential female-led YA blockbuster. It centers on teenage Ava, who survives a catastrophic plane crash at an air show and suddenly finds herself able to cure Wade, the pilot and her best friend, of a massive wound. The supernatural event is recorded by shocked onlookers’ camera phones, and Ava suddenly finds herself in the middle of a fierce debate between religion and science.
That’s pretty heady material. It’ll be interesting to see where that story goes and who’ll play our bewildered protagonist.
