Priyanka Chopra is taking on a true story for her next project. According to Variety, the “Quantico” actress will star in Shonali Bose’s “The Sky Is Pink.” Currently in production, the family drama tells the story of motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhury.
Zaira Wasim (“Secret Superstar”) is playing the lead role, and Chopra and Farhan Akhtar (“Gold”) are portraying her parents.
The project hails from RSVP, Roy Kapur Films, and “Crazy Rich Asians” producer Ivanhoe Pictures. Filming has already taken place in London, Mumbai, and New Delhi, and there’s a planned January shoot in the Andaman Islands. “The Sky Is Pink” is expected to be released in mid-2019.
This marks Chopra’s first Indian film since starring in ABC’s FBI drama “Quantico.” The series wrapped its third and final season earlier this year. You can catch her next in the meta rom-com “Isn’t It Romantic,” out February 14.
Bose previously directed features “Amu” and “Margarita with a Straw.” When we asked her advice for other women filmmakers, she said, “March on! Do not compromise at any point. Our stories need to be told. It’s really tough, but it can happen.”
