Elle Fanning continues to impress with her film choices. Her latest anounced project is Wadjda director Haifaa al-Mansour’s A Storm in the Stars, a biopic of Frankenstein author Mary Shelley.
A Storm in the Stars will focus on 17-year-old Shelley’s tumultuous relationship with the married poet Percey Shelley and the work of writing her enduring masterpiece. (Shelley was 21 years old when Frankenstein was published.)
The biopic will mark the fourth time the 16-year-old Maleficent actress has worked with a woman director. She previously starred in Sally Potter’s Ginger and Rosa and co-starred in Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere and Jessie Nelson’s I Am Sam.
“Elle is amazingly smart and talented and very much relates to Mary as a young woman,” said Storm producer Amy Baer. “She is going to do something extraordinary in this role that will transition her from a compelling young adult to a formidable leading lady.”
Rounding out the female-led film are screenwriters Emma Jensen and EPs Rebecca Miller and Joannie Burstein.
